About
Philip Lique is an artist, designer, and cultural practitioner based in Miami, Florida.
Working across sculpture, installation, print, and publication, his practice investigates material culture and the constructed environment, often merging analog fabrication techniques with digital technologies to examine how objects shape and hold meaning in public space.
In addition to his studio practice, Lique brings a comprehensive understanding of the inner workings of arts institutions through years of hands-on leadership. At Bakehouse Art Complex where he is currently a resident artist, Lique supports the implementation of a five-year strategic plan, overseeing facilities, fabrication labs, and the development of sustainable operational models that expand the organization’s technical production capacities.
As Director of Exhibitions at MadArts, he helped launch a 50,000-square-foot immersive museum, producing large-scale public artworks and light festivals, managing installation logistics, and designing site-responsive scenic elements.
His work across both institutions reflects a unique ability to translate between artists’ visions and institutional frameworks—creating the conditions for ambitious, collaborative, and community-oriented cultural production.
Lique’s expertise spans exhibition design, institutional operations, publication production, and collaborative programming. Whether building armatures for large-scale installations or crafting frameworks for community engagement, he offers a rare blend of creative insight and practical skill. His work is grounded in the belief that the cultural worker and the artist are often one and the same—and that shaping the conditions for art to thrive is itself an act of authorship.
