Artist Statement:

These 10 Cardboard knives might be the most solid, true connection point between my “old” work and my current work. In the past, I worked with cardboard almost exclusively. The material is cheap, readily available and easily manipulated in almost any studio setting-I constructed  these knives from 2 empty cases of beer, some scrap wood and numerous sticks of hot glue.

They are modeled after the classic American BOWIE knife design popularized by American folklore. Meant to be a fusion of both classic and tongue in cheek americana, this series of sculptures wrangles craft, history, myth, the art world's penchant for “limited” series and humor into a single package of perverse, yet well made sculptures. 

I’ve been approached to sell these knives-but have always resisted. Each object took hours to make, but the material is not precious-thus rendering these objects difficult to price, and destined to decay at an unknown rate. The joke is on me for making such a successful set of sculptures.
